This is a tutorial that will show you how to adorn a candle with dried flowers.  First you will need to gather your supplies. They will include:

F Supplies

  • Candles
  • Mod Podge
  • Dried Flowers

You can buy dried flowers,  or press them yourself (which will take time if you are doing it the old fashioned way, pressing them between book pages) or you can buy a microwave flower press kit! I didn’t even know these existed but was so glad to find out that they did, they really speed up the process. You can instantly have dried flowers to use for this project or tons of others. I bought the one I have, which you can see in the upper left hand corner of the supplies picture, here:

Microwave Flower Press Is Fast And Easy To Use!

Now that you have your supplies its time to adorn some candles! Its super simple!

I used handmade soy candles for mine, stay tuned for a tutorial in the near future on how to make your own soy candles! Any candle will do just fine though. Spread a bit of Mod Podge over the area on your candle you want to stick your dried flowers. You can use Qtips if you like or a paintbrush to smooth the Mod Podge on. Very gently press your dried flower over the Mod Podged surface. You also want to go over the flower very very carefully with some Mod Podge as well. This will dry invisible so you don’t have to worry about it looking pasty.  That’s all there is to it!

This goes without saying I’m sure but please do not burn these candles! It can be a fire hazard, these are strictly for decoration only.
